“On the surface, this series of work is about Kansas City Landscapes, the celebration of urban landscape and the nostalgia felt for a city that I am becoming re-familiar with after years of living away. Underneath, it is about change or deeper still about death and rebirth. After the recent passing of my father I had a choice, to stew in the negative emotions of sadness, loss and fear or to take the pain and transmute it through positive action. This series of work sprung forth. Notice how the streets are empty but the sun is shining. New beginnings are always scary at first, but there is always the hope of better things to come over the horizon.”
